Ervin R. Monk 

 
 

Ervin (Bob) Monk, 68, Sturgeon Bay died at Door County Memorial Hospital on July 14, 2008.He was born July 28, 1939 in Two Rivers to Ervin and Katherine (Bronk) Monk.Ervin served in the U. S. Army with 101st Airborne from 1957-60.On March 25, 1961 he married Ruth Schmidt at St. Peters Lutheran Church, in Mishicot.Ervin worked as a powerbender operator for Formrite Tube Company until his retirement.He was a life long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Two Rivers; Salem Lutheran Church after his retirement and moving to Door County in 2001; the West Shore Sportsman Club, Lutheran Men’s Bowling League and Men’s Slow Pitch softball league in Two Rivers.He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Kaylene (James) Nixon, Two Rivers; Lorna (Kent) Palazzo, Algoma; a son, Ervin William (Mary) Monk, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren, Leanne, Kristin, Jason, Joshua, Anthony, Adam, Matthew and Paul; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Leona (Walter) Christoffel, Two Rivers; nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward Levy.

Memorial Services will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008 at Salem Lutheran Church (3339 County MM, Sturgeon Bay), the Rev. John Seelman officiating.A visitation will take place after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the church until time of services.Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church or Manitowoc Lutheran High School in his memory.
