Dorothy Viola Schmitz, 86, of Forestville, passed away at Cardinal Ridge C.B.R.F. on July 30, 2008.She was born on Nov. 9, 1921 in Algoma to Louis and Martha (Krohn) Gaulke.On August 22, 1945 she married George Schmitz Jr.Dorothy was a long time and active member of Holy Name of Mary Church and Christian Mothers.She was an avid cook and baker. Her favorite pass times were doing jigsaw puzzles and playing BINGO.Dorothy was a devoted mother and will be truly missed by her family and friends.Survivors include 5 children:Janis (Rick Wolfe) Schmitz, Brussels; Jerry (Judy) Schmitz, Thiensville; Debbie (Eli) Peterson, Sturgeon Bay; Alan Schmitz, Green Bay;Tami Schmitz, South Bend, IN; 6 grandchildren:Greta Wolfeschmitz, Mark Schmitz, Emily Schmitz, Peter Schmitz, Shauna Peterson and Lindsay Peterson; 2 sisters:LaVerne Harmann, Plymouth; and Ruby Machut, Madison; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Mark; and a sister, Violet Mitchell. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, at the Holy Name of Mary Church in Maplewood with the Rev. Jim Lies CSC officiating.Burial will be in the Holy Name of Mary Church Cemetery (Hwy 42).Friends may call on Sunday, August 3, from 4-8 p.m. at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay.A prayer service will be conducted on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.There will be no visitation at the church on Monday morning before mass.A memorial fund has been established in her name.
