Ruthellen Schmidt, 69, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on February 1, 2010 at the Door County Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 3, 1941 in Madison, WI to Carl M. and Esther A. (Gatzke) Spersrud. On September 2, 1978 Ellie married Donald Schmidt in Milwaukee, WI. Ellie taught elementary school for 42 years all over the world through the Department of Defense Dependents School. Ellie felt blessed to be a teacher because “teachers touch the future.”
Survivors include her husband, Donald; two children, Colleen (Gary) Routh, Lebanon, TN and Kathleen McKinney, Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren, Clayton, Austin, Meghan, and Jacob; one brother, H Dean (Dorothy) Spersrud, Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Jane (David) Rockrohr, Milwaukee, WI, and Carol (Jerry Ridley) Darrington, Milwaukee, WI; one aunt, Arlette Spersrud, Stoughton,WI; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Ellie was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. |
