     Marie Jane Peters, 79, of Maplewood, passed away at her home on June 18, 2009.  She was born December 19, 1929 in the town of Gardner to Emil and Charlotte (Corbisier) Albert.  On February 16, 1946 she married William “Bill” Colombo.  She and Bill owned and operated Colombo’s Flowers for many years.  She later married Merrill “Pete” Peters and they owned and operated the Wild Life Bar in Maplewood for a number of years.  Marie was a C.N.A. for Porter-Kiehnau Home Care for several years.  She enjoyed gardening and will be remembered for her beautiful gardens.  She was the first woman president of the local Ducks Unlimited Organization.  She was also active in the Business and Professional Women’s Association in Sturgeon Bay and served as an officer in various capacities.   She and Peter were past members of the Door County Tavern League.  Marie was also proud of her work as treasurer for the Maplewood Mets.
    
Survivors include her husband, Pete; five children, Father Ronald Colombo, Denmark; David “Rocky” (Candice) Colombo, Sturgeon Bay; Charlotte (Richard) Bohn, Sturgeon Bay; Mary Colombo, Green Bay; Bill (Lisa) Colombo, Appleton; 10 grandchildren, Chris (Kari), Amanda (Tim), Carter, Dustin, Brandon, Jason (Jamie), Justin, Kayla, Kaitlyn, and Jenna; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Emil “Babe” (Yvonne) Albert, Brussels; a sister, Marge Anschutz, Little Sturgeon; four sisters in law, Evangeline Perlewitz, Lillian Alberts, Audrey Alberts, and Jean Alberts; three stepsons, David, Mike and Jim Peters.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Bill, on Feb. 25, 1991; a sister, Edith Kaye; five brothers, Myron, Gordon, Julius, Morris and Dennis, 2 brothers in law, Archel Kaye and Alvin Anschutz.
    
 Memorial services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Forbes Funeral Home, her son, Rev. Ron Colombo officiating.  Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home until time of services.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
