Kenneth L. Hunsader, 70, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at his home. He was born on November 22, 1938 in Alaska, WI to Ed and Ruth (Cepek) Hunsader. Ken graduated from Casco High School in 1956 and attended NWTC in 1957. He married Eugenia “Jean” Bellin on August 10, 1957 at St. Hubert Church in Rosiere. Ken served in the U. S. Army Reserve from 1957- 1962. He specialized in engineering and was a manager of the Engineering Department at Feeco International. In 1986 Ken and Jean moved to Sturgeon Bay where he managed an Engineering Department at Therma-Tron-X Inc. Ken was ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church on May 22, 1982. Parish Diaconal assignments included Sts Peter and Paul, Green Bay; St. Mary’s, Namur; St. Joseph, Sturgeon Bay and St. Francis & St. Mary, Brussels. His role as a deacon included baptism, annulments, marriages and prayer services at Door County Memorial Hospital. Ken was deeply devoted to the Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family at the cottage, swimming, and playing games with his grandchildren. He also loved traveling, reading, listening to polka music and wintering in Arizona. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Survivors include his wife, Jean, of 52 years, their three children, Rebecca (Tom) Jaklin, Sturgeon Bay, Kelly (Kelly) Hunsader, Luxemburg, Bryan (Paula) Hunsader, Green Bay; five grandchildren, Desiree, Taylor, Meghan, Alyssa and Eric; two brothers, Dick (Joan) Hunsader, Dorchester, David (Pat) Hunsader, Florence, KY; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cleo and Kermit Franda, Ida and Harvey Ropson, Adris Bellin and Friend Jim Devroy, Dick and Terry Bellin, Andy and Bernadette Bellin. He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Ed and Helen Bellin; sister, Diane (Gabe) Laurent, brother-in-law, Alden (Agnes) Bellin, sister-in-law, Geri Bellin, brother-in-law, Larry Holub and brother-in-law, Mike Alberts.
A concelebrated mass will be conducted at 10:30 AM. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish, Brussels with Bishop David Ricken as Celebrante and Rev. Pius Cotter as Consultant. A gathering of friends will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. at St. Francis and St. Mary Church, Brussels with a prayer service to be conducted at 7:00 PM. A visitation will also take place at 9:30 AM Wednesday until time of services.
