Jane L. Vogel, 87, Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Door County Memorial Hospital. She was born October 7, 1922 in Rhinelander, WI to Adolph and Mabel (Hemmingson) Fengler. On June 19, 1945 she married Henry G. Vogel at Maplewood; he preceded her in death on May 21, 2004. During her teen years, she was well known for singing and playing guitar at local gatherings and radio stations. She was a 1940 graduate of Rhinelander High School and when her parents moved to Sturgeon Bay she joined them. She was a typist at Leathem Smith Shipyard until her marriage to Henry. Jane belonged to the Homemaker’s Club and was a 4-H leader for many years. Jane’s hobbies included, reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, and baking for her family. Survivors include her five children, Donna (Colin) Sacotte, Sturgeon Bay; Lynne (Jonathon) Marcussen, Denmark; Dennis (Cathy) Vogel, Savannah, GA; Leon (Cathy) Vogel and Terry (Kim) Vogel, Sturgeon Bay; 11 grandchildren, Scott Sacotte, Jon and Ian Marcussen, Stacey and Paul Vogel, Nick Vogel, Lace Miller, Chase Vogel, Jason, Nathan and Kurt Vogel; ten great-grandchildren, Courtney, Taytum, Reese, Gavin, Callie, Morgan, Addison, Brayden, Chloe, and Emily. One brother, Rollie (Janice) Fengler, Green Bay; two sisters-in-law, Ann Vogel, Sturgeon Bay and Marcie Fengler, Green Bay. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, LeRoy Fengler. Funeral Services will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Forbes Funeral Home, Sturgeon Bay, with Pastor Tim Malek officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name of Mary Cemetery, Maplewood. Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. |
