Irene E. Schubert, 84, of Brussels, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at Door County Memorial Hospital. She was born December 29, 1924 in Algoma to Frank and Bertha (Wessel) Schley. On May 24, 1947 she married Lawrence Schubert in Forestville; he preceded her in death on December 14, 1979. Irene enjoyed farming and driving tractor with Lawrence and family for many years. She used her talent of crocheting and knitting for many people. Irene was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church and Salem Lutheran Ladies Aid. She also volunteered at the Dorchester and the Door County Memorial Hospital and assisted in 4-H club activities. Survivors include five children: Jane (Roger) Patza, Sturgeon Bay, Norma (Dale) Uecker, Forestville, Paul (Debra) Schubert, Baileys Harbor, Lois (Scott) Brown, Brussels, Roger (Wendy) Schubert, Brussels; ten grandchildren: Jennifer Ploor, Jodi Wery, Jason Patza; Krissy Phillips, Tracy LaCrosse, Adam and Amber Schubert; Tyler Brown, Emma and Colin Schubert; ten great-grandchildren: Kyle, Cynde and Alex Ploor; Ashley and Lexi Wery; Natalie Patza, Meghan and Chloe LaCrosse; Riley and Ross Phillips; two brothers: Arwed (Alice) Schley, Sturgeon Bay, Myrton (Vi) Schley, Algoma; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; son Allan; sister Leona Schmeling; and infant brother Arnold. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday June 29, 2009 at Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. John Seelman officiating. Burial will be at Schumacher Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Sunday June 28 at the Forbes Funeral Home and after 10:00 AM at the church until time of services. Devotions will be Sunday 8:00 PM at the funeral home. |
