Henry E. “Hank” Martens, 89, of Sturgeon Bay passed away on December 28, 2009 in Green Bay. He was born on September 23, 1920 in Egg Harbor to William and Emma (Schuster) Martens. On October 8, 1944 Hank married Marguerite Ekberg in West Jacksonport, she preceded him in death on October 27, 2002. Henry served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Philippines.
Hank graduated from UW Madison with a B.A. in Electrical Engineering, and worked for IBM as an electrical engineer for many years, mostly in research and development. He then retired to Sturgeon Bay and built a retirement home on Bay Shore Drive. On September 27, 2003 he married Thelma (Shelley) Markham in Green Bay.
Survivors include his wife; many nieces and nephews; Thelma’s daughter and her family. He was preceded in death by his first wife; infant son, David Henry; five sisters, and three brothers.
Funeral and veteran services will be 11:00 AM Thursday December 31, 2009 at the Forbes Funeral Home with Rev. Cory Dahl officiating. Burial will be in the Town of Egg Harbor Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Sturgeon Bay or someones favorite charity in Henry's honor. |
