Harris W. Cochart 

 
 

 

 
 

     Harris W. Cochart, 82, of Brussels, passed away on Sept. 11, 2009 at Door County Memorial Hospital.  He was born on April 21, 1927 in the Town of Lincoln to William and Myrtle (Jandrain) Cochart. On June 20, 1945 he married Clarice Rass at St. Mary of the Snow Church in Namur.  Harris farmed the former Rass Family Farm for 50 years and was a truck driver for Kewaunee Engineering.  He was also a mechanic at Luxemburg Motors for many years and then worked as a machinist at Bay Ship until his retirement in 1985.  Harris still drove truck for Nemetz Trucking during the fall harvest.  He enjoyed family get-togethers with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends.
     Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Clarice; 4 sons, Terry & Mary, Brussels, Rod & Nancy, Casco, Reggie & Jane, Brussels, and Michael, Brussels; 3 daughters, Suzanne & Wayne Delwiche, Brussels, Marcia & Ron Vlies, Brussels, and Lisa Stade, Casco; 18 grandchildren, Tricia Simon, Tim (Tracie) Cochart, Tracy (Greg) Jorns, Melissa Cochart, Chad (Lisa) Cochart, Cory (Amy) Cochart, Lacey Cochart, Heather (Jason) Krueger, Nick (Amy) Cochart, Adam Cochart, Kirk (Kim) Delwiche, Eric(Tracy) Delwiche, Brent (Tiffany) Delwiche, Jay (Hannah) Delwiche, Jeff (Tina) Vlies, Todd (Missy) Vlies, Amy Vlies, Jamie Stade, and one step-grandchild, Shane (Jill) Urban; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Norbert “Tiny” (Lucille) Cochart; a sister-in-law, Bernice & Jules Carpiaux.
     He was preceded in death, by his parents, 3 grandchildren, Cody and Ciley Cochart, and Elizabeth Vlies; 3 sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Beatrice (Ray) Denil, Eva (Arnold) Vandertie, and Angeline (Edward) Jandrain, father and mother-in-law, Henry & Lucy Rass.
    
Funeral services will be 10:15 AM Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and 11:00 AM at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels.  Entombment will be at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.  Friends may call on Sunday at the Forbes Funeral Home from 3-8 PM with a prayer service to be conducted at 7:00 PM.
