Myrtle Gomoll, 98, of Algoma, passed away on March 21, 2009 in Green Bay. She was born on April 12, 1910 in Kolberg to Emil and Adeline (Teich) Miller. Myrtle graduated from Brussels High School and then went to work for the Telephone Company in Forestville. She also worked at the Door County Court House when her father was County Treasurer. On June 26, 1934 she married Elmer Gomoll in Kolberg. Myrtle and her husband farmed in the Forestville area for many years. They also owned and operated the Gomoll Insurance Agency. Her husband preceded her in death on April 17, 1972. Myrtle enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking, and sewing.Her special gift was quilting. Everyone in the family has a special quilt to remember her by. Survivors include 4 children: Dorleen Mallien, Sturgeon Bay; Randy (Marsha) Gomoll, New Franken; Sandra (Sam) Annoye, Luxemburg; and Patricia (Neil) Destree, New Franken; 14 grandchilren: Kim (John) Hartel, Kelly (Charles) Christiansen, Korey (Jodi) Mallien, Rick (Lori) Gomoll, John Gomoll-Biolo, Michelle (Rich) Hewitt, Galeen (Brian) Giese, Jodi (Brent) Watzka, Melissa (Tim) Leist, Todd (Stacy) Destree, Jenifer (Keith) Delebreau, Jennifer Mikle, Sandra (Chris) Hanmann, Rhonda (John) Seiler; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 7 sisters: Ella Guth, Julia Hafeman, Dora Chaudoir, Rena Haskell, Edna Chapek, Oleida Miller, Leora Sell, 4 brothers: Elmer, Lawrence, Orville, and Walter; and a son-in-law, Gaylord Mauer. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Forestville with the Rev. David Luhrs officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma. Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.I n lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Greene and his nurse, Arlene; the staff of Bay Road Place (Algoma), the Odd Fellows Nursing Home (Green Bay), and the many friends, neighbors, and relatives who were so supportive.
Mom was a person of faith and lived her life serving family and friends.Mom, YOU WERE THE BEST!
