     Evelyn M. Roder, 89, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on January 13, 2010 in Green Bay at the Aurora Bay Care Medical Center.  She was born on April 11, 1920 in Kewaunee to Frank and Mary (Kulhanek) Berkovitz.  On November 27, 1952 she married Carl Roder in Kewaunee, he preceded her in death on October 25, 1989.  Evelyn was a member of Holy Name of Mary Church, a past member of the parish council, past president of the Altar Society and also taught catechism.  Evelyn helped start the PTA at Southern Door High School; she also was one of the first vendors at the Sturgeon Bay Farm Market.  She was active and a leader in the 4-H, a poll worker for 25 years, a 50-year member of the Four Corner Club, and a member of the Door County Homemakers and the Forestville Legion Auxiliary.
    
Survivors include four children, Marsha Nelson, Sturgeon Bay, J.C. Roder, Sturgeon Bay, Janice (Jeff) Hubert, Summerfield, FL, Mary (Jay) Jeanquart, Sturgeon Bay; five grandchildren, Nick (Sarah) Nelson, Amy (John) Buresh, Keri (Jason Neuser) Nelson, Jared and Davin Jeanquart; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob; a sister-in-law, Elly Berkey, Kewaunee; nieces and nephews.  Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a son-in-law, Dale Nelson; twelve brothers and sisters.
    
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Holy Name of Mary Church in Maplewood with Rev. Robert Konkel, OFM officiating.  Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday January 15 at the Forbes Funeral home in Sturgeon Bay with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.  A memorial fund has been established in Evelyn’s name.  
 
     She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.  She was the last of her generation and will be missed dearly.
