Ethel J. Van Dreese, 94, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at Door County Memorial Hospital on June 24, 2009. She was born on April 11, 1915 in Clay Banks to Albert and Julia (Peterson) Michelson. Ethel was a long time member of the Sons of Norway and active in the Bay View Lutheran Church Quilting Society. Over the years, she had sewn over a thousand quilt tops. Ethel had worked for many years at Sturgeon Bay Metal Products. On July 6, 1939 she married Daniel Van Dreese in Waukegan, IL. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, David Van Dreese, Sturgeon Bay, son-in-law, Bob Maynard, Wauwatosa, daughter-in-law, Kristina Van Dreese, New Franken; 5 grandchildren, Kevin (Cindy) Maynard, Jennifer (Steve) Thorson, Angela (Chad) Sylvester, Sarah and Melissa Van Dreese; 9 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel, a daughter, Barbara Maynard, and a sister, Beatrice Anderson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 29, 2009 at Bay View Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jerry Groth officiating. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Forbes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
