Edna Ann Koontz, 68, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday February 28, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 28, 1941 in Manistique, Michigan to Ervin and Lorena (Shirk) Diller. On January 15, 1968 Edna married Martin Koontz in Michigan, he preceded her in death on January 5, 1991. Edna was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always put others first. She was also known for opening her home to anyone who needed nurturing and a place to stay. Edna enjoyed flower gardening and homemaking. She had worked for Bay Pharmacy for 20 years. Survivors include, six children: Russell (Lori) Tuttle, Brussels, Cindy (Tom) Roberts, Sturgeon Bay, Jack (Kelli) Tuttle, Sturgeon Bay, Kris (Randy) Lischka, Algoma, Shelly (Jerry) Eckert, Sturgeon Bay, Tracy (Kari) Koontz, Brussels; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Rosalie (Jim) Cortsen, Green Bay, Laurie (Tom) Dier, Algoma; one sister-in-law: Sallie W. Diller, MI.Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Greg, one brother Jack. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Forbes Funeral Home in SturgeonBay, Rev Larry Zessin officiating. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Good Shepherd Mausoleum.Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday, March 4, at the Forbes Funeral Home and Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Door County CANcer Inc.
