Cora Nelson

 
 

 

 
 

     Cora Emma Nelson 90, of Sturgeon Bay passed away on May 1, 2009 at the Skilled Nursing Facility at the Door County Memorial Hospital.  She was born on April 22, 1919 to Ludwig and Anna (Werkheiser) Bongle in Sevastopol.  On November 16, 1938 she married Norman Nelson who preceded her in death in 1979.  Cora worked at the Door County Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper for 37 years.  She enjoyed knitting countless baby sets for family and friends throughout the years.  Cora was also a long time member of Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church.
    
Survivors include two daughters:  Bonnie Nelson, Sturgeon Bay, Gail (Al) Letney, TX; one daughter-in-law:Marsha Nelson, Sturgeon Bay; six grandchildren:  Michael (Di) Steinberger, Christopher (Debbie) Kohel, Rebecca Kohel, Nicholas (Sarah) Nelson, Amy (John) Buresh, Keri (Fiance Jason) Nelson; eleven great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; one sister:  Irene (Fred) Wilke, Carlsville.  Cora was preceded in death by her husband; two sons:  Kenneth and Dale Nelson; one daughter:  Janet Nelson; two brothers:  Elton and Robert Bongle; one grandson:  Kenny Steinberger; one sister:  Frieda (Chester) Londo.
    
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday May 4, 2009 at Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church with the Rev. Philip Peterson officiating.  Burial will be at the Forest Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 PM at the Forbes Funeral Home and from 10AM Monday at the church until time of services.  A prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
