Clara B. Balza 

 
 

 

 
 

     Clara B. Balza, 86, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away December 21, 2009 at the Door County Memorial Hospital in the Skilled Nursing Facility.  She was born on July 15, 1923 in Tonet, Wisconsin to Joseph and Minnie (Gomand) Jonet.  On June 26, 1946 Clara married Elmer Balza in Tonet, he preceded her in death on May 11, 2000.  Clara was a member of the St. Ann Society, Corpus Christi Church and also a past member of St. Francis Xavier church in Brussels.  Clara loved flowers, playing cards and bingo, and visiting with family and friends.  She also enjoyed dancing with her husband for many years.
    
Survivors include, Carol (Ed) Price, Brussels, Mary (Mark) Tlachac, Sturgeon Bay, Nancy (Robert) Hunsader, Sturgeon Bay, Cheryl (Stan) Sanger, Palmyra, PN; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Martha Annoye, Barbara Jandrin, and Ceil (Cy) LeCaptain; one brother-in-law, Alois Seidl.  Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elmer; three sisters, Betty Seidl, Lorraine (Lionel) Ruben, Marie (Lee) Rollin; one brother, Peter (Lucy) Jonet, in-laws, Ira (Geri) Balza, and Hazel (Dick) VanLanen.
    
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 28, 2009 at Corpus Christi Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Carl Schmitt and Rev. Anthony Birdsall concelebrating.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at 10:00 AM at the church on Monday until time of services.  A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 PM on Sunday.  A memorial fund has been established in Clara’s name.
     The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Skilled Nursing Faciltiy of Door County Memorial Hospital and the staff of Whispering Pines Assisted Living Facility for the kind and loving care they provided for our mother.  Heart-filled thanks also to to family and friends that visited mom and gave her love and support.
