Arnold Frank Geitner, 93, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on December 9, 2009 in Sturgeon Bay at the Door County Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born on May 4, 1916 in Sevastopol to Anton and Ann (Schartner) Geitner. Arnold graduated from Sevastopol High School.On October 6, 1937 he married Emma Potier at Corpus Christi Church, she passed away on May 27, 2006. After high school, Arnold worked in the cherry orchard industry and also at the milk condensing plant. Later, he went to work at Christy Corporation and became a foreman after a number of years. He also farmed and worked as a mail carrier for many years. Arnold kept delivering mail until his retirement. In his retirement, he loved to grow vegetables and fruit.Arnold was active in his garden until this past summer. Arnold is survived by his son, Ronald (Donna) Geitner, Milton, WI; two daughters, Karen (Jim) Duquaine, Sturgeon Bay, Mary (William) Nuhs, Sturgeon Bay; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife Emma; an infant son, John; three infant grandsons; one brother and sister-in-law, Edwin (June) Geitner; one sister and brother-in-law, Agnes (Conrad) Schaefer. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Holy Name of Mary Church in Maplewood with the Rev. Robert Konkel OFM and Rev. Anthony Birdsall concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Friday, December 11, at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and after 10:00 AM Saturday at the church until time of services. A prayer service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Friday at 7:00 PM. |
